Riverside Park

Riverside Park, in New York, is beautiful at any time of year (and usually much quieter than Central Park). But in my opinion autumn makes this park especially gorgeous.

Hills by the beach

Wharekaho is a small village in the north-east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, just north of Whitianga. This shot was taken looking inland from the beach where the Akeake stream ends.

I’m not sure it’s very noticeable, but the background of this photo is a house with a round door. This is at the Hobbiton movie set, the place where the Shire scenes from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies were filmed.

Black sand

Vík is a small village on the south coast of Iceland, famous for its black sand beach and for being the southernmost village in the country. The sand is black because it is formed from the volcanic rock that makes up most of the island.

This photo was taken in October of 2013, on a very windy afternoon (as one can see from the spray over the waves).

Sometimes you don’t have to go very far looking for a shot. I took this photo from home, through our kitchen window, while a summer storm approached Sydney from the west.

This particular storm happened in October of 2014.
